My legs are so wind burned I look like a lobster. The sidewalk is still covered by a 5 foot drift, but screw it the neighbors never shovel their side. One day of having a drift over our side isn't going to end the world.

James is planning to get a snow blower today. He's had enough of this. The walls of snow to either side of the driveway are about 4 feet high.

I'm dropping off an application as well. I must get back to filling it out now.

OH MY GOD

http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/home-entertainment/cf9b/

You know what, judge me all you want people but that would be the best 90 bucks I'd ever spent in my freaking life. I don't even care if it's technically just a tv remote I am adding it to my list.

It makes me so happy when people find a way to make everyday objects into TOYS.

*edit

Completely unrelatedly, *Ayem is ONLY NINETEEN? WHAT THE- god I hate finding out really good artists are younger than me, it makes me feel so art-retarded.

... no offense to said younger artists who might read this D: I love you just stop... being so YOUNG. Grow up quicker! Chronologically, at least.

Saw Avatar a couple of days ago...

'Cause really... you gotta see it. It's a game-changer in terms of film making. It both pushes and bursts some envelopes. Generic storyline? Pretty much. An uncanny amount of parallels to the story of Pocahontas? You'd be surprised. Predictable? Ohhh yeah. Full of the kinda breakthrough material that'll take your ass to another world? No question! Plus, this is the James Cameron film of our prime time! Do you know what I'd do to be transported back in time to the premier of Terminator 2? Terrible, unforgivable things. I mean I was technically alive when it opened... but I was only mere months old.

All arguments aside... uh... just see it, will ya?

In the meantime, I did up some Avatar-inspired comics. I gotta hide them under the cut though for obvious spoilers and explicit content. THAT'S RIGHT EXPLICIT. In 2010 this blog goes dirty! Nothin' but filth, filth, filth, no holds barred!

1. Reply to this post with 'ICONS!', and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

Ahh, T-Rex. How I love you! I can't remember which Dinosaur Comic this comes from, but it makes me laugh.

Amanda Palmer, from the music video for Oasis. Hilarious video--I'd recommend it.

John Flansburgh ("Flansy") of TMBG, in the video for The Statue Got Me High. Not much more to say about that.

'

Bubbles always was my favorite Powerpuff Girl. Her expression here is priceless.

Sean drew this for me. XD It's actually part of a larger picture, featuring a bespectacled Rya playing piano.

Gettin' back to my roots here...

Do you ever reminisce over a certain moment in your life... and begin to work it around into a moderately amusing comic? No? Oh... well I did that today. I call these comics "Revisits".

As you can see, my art has vastly improved since 2009. I'm sure you can tell. INST.

Nothing like an online job search service to remind me how out of place I am. Art is such a joke... it's the most useless thing I could possibly have had a talent for. Why couldn't I have been good at math or mechanical stuff? Those actually contribute to society. It advances our knowledge of the universe and helps people, but art? Art gives yuppies something to ogle at in expensive museums.

I think I need to stop reading job postings now, I've been at it all morning and it's clearly burning me out. I'm almost through all 500 now anyway.

Edit: found maintenance position that is a nice 3 hours per weeknight cleaning offices. Minimal human contact and an ipod- it sounds like heaven to me. Apparently James's company hires them so he was gonna see if I could work at the city hall. That would be pretty cool.

It's been a gross morning- not bad, just gross. Ellie threw up on the carpet, all the dishes in the dishwasher somehow didn't get clean all the way, and then I tried a new kind of... Maruchan japanese noodles (tomato basil) and they tasted horrible. I'm eating Tostitos instead, but I dripped some salsa on my keyboard and tried to lick it off and my keyboard tasted like cleaning chemicals so now my mouth is dying D:

Anyway, don't lick keyboards. It's a bad idea, even if paper towels aren't available. You're better off using toilet paper and hoping you are fast enough at grabbing some.

Oh, and ND Workforce Center... just so you know, 8am to 7pm, 6 days a week is not part time hours. Plz2b fixing your search engine.

Gee whiz, welcome to 2010.

I had the urge to do this for some reason... so here goes: My top 20 albums of 2009. "Top" really isn't the best word here though... because I don't necessarily consider these albums best bro. This right here is more like a list of the albums that drew my particular interest.

(Albums are arranged in no particular order.)

EDIT: I ended up stopping myself mid-way through writing a drawn-out post of album reviews you probably don't care about. Here are the names of the albums for um... reference?

Hudson Mohawke - Butter
Paul White - The Strange Dreams of Paul White
Prefuse 73 - Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian
Michna - Magic Monday
N.A.S.A. - The Spirit of Apollo
Robot Koch - Death Star Droid
Warp Records - Warp20
Machinedrum - Want to 1 2?
Bibio - Ambivalence Avenue
J Dilla - Jay Stay Paid
Major Lazer - Guns Don't Kill People ... Lazers Do

Do you have a "dream car"? If you had money to spare, would you buy a new car? If so, would you be more likely to get an eco-friendly vehicle, a vintage model, or a luxury sportscar?

Modified Delorean.

And no, baby, you cannot drive my car. The title is a lie.

Just so people know (since Maggie, I was texting you and just kinda... stopped abruptly coz I had to drive) I got home okay. The roads were superb and ice-free. No trouble at all. Also, Sherlock Holmes was interesting. I'm glad I made it in time to see it, but now I'm pretty burned out on movies after sitting in theaters for almost 4 hours today. It beat having family talk at me for four hours though, which could explain my improved mood.

Ellie is being bad so I'm gonna go to bed now. I'm sure she's in a "let's wake up Jenny and annoy the crap out of her" mood again. That is the one thing I... didn't miss. OH RIGHT James is still off! Yay, she can wake up him insteeeead...

James found jobs in the paper and I'mma look at 'em closer tomorrow.

We're also gonna clean the house and then make pancakes and eggs for dinner. I hope we have maple syrup.

I need to not forget to figure out what my address is for the 3rd time because I keep forgetting to stick it on my computer for reference. I take about a year to memorize things. This is why it would be bad if I got lost- I wouldn't be able to tell anyone where I lived. Kiki, I will have to uh get back to you about that.

Paladins are still fun as of level 16.

I need to draw really bad. I have the urge to use my tablet now that I can use my iMac again... I hope the inspiration is still there tomorrow during computertimes. If it's the same wave of ideas I'm riding now, I will end up drawing steampunk chipmunks :/ I am disturbed by how easily media influences my imagination sometimes.

Annnnd I need to read my flist but I'll do that later coz bedtime.

Just saw The Squeakquel with my little sister.

I... um.

I liked it. *cough*

It really cheered me up and I feel almost awesome again... but now I have to pack stuff up to go back to Fargo ASAP because then I might get to see Sherlock Holmes as well! Only if I hurry tho. Oh, and my car is fixed! The battery went bad from being frozen so I got a new one, and it turns out it was getting drained by the light in my glove compartment, because the switch had gone bad and it wasn't turning off. We disconnected it so I have no more glove compartment light but that means my car won't be dead anymore so yay.

ALSO I have all this food and stuff to bring with me now. Yayy. No more starving James.

More good news- I like my paladin so far. She is now level 11. I'll officially like her once she is 25 and I have not abandoned her yet. I think I will respec my druid for DPS because... I like her spellcasting better. I do not like fighting as a bear that much and only sometimes as a cat.

Anywayyyyy... g2g as Josie is pointing out. "Jenny aren't you leaving? Why are you sitting there?" Hurr because I'm stupid and should be packing.

I'LL SPIN YOU RIGHT ROUND ~ BABY RIGHT ROUND ~

What, if any, resolutions did you make in 2009 and how many did you keep? Do you plan to make any resolutions for 2010? Do you find this tradition constructive or debilitating?

I'll be completely honest, guys.

My resolution this year was to lose my virginity.

Needless to say, that didn't really pan out. Like, at all.

I have two resolutions for 2010. My first one is to clean my damn room. My second one is to be less whiny and cheer up a little.

Wish me luck.

Oh crap my mom's home and I'm not dressed and I'm supposed to be getting a shot. HIDE ME.

NOOOO SHOTS NO.

Why is world of goo so addictive, guys? The cute little gooballs... and tower building...

It pleases me. I love that the demo lets me play so far and that it's super cheap on Steam.

Also I had some kinda musical dream about zombies. It was a musical. And the main character was a zombie who was outcast from the other zombies coz they were at war with the humans and the hero zombie didn't wanna fight humans. Or something. Anyway, he sang and I was humming the song when I woke up but I forgot it :(

There needs to be a musical about zombies. WHO CAN WRITE MUSIC? C'mere and help me write a play :DD

Hmm. What do I talk about.

Christmas was relatively profitable. Swag included a new iPod (the iLinnell III is all shiny and purple!), season 8 of Scrubs, Watchmen, a book on drawing landscapes, plenty of chocolate and a cowprint shower cap with horns. Tee hee.

I'm at Dad's right now, he's having his wedding tomorrow. I dunno about you but the last thing I'd feel like doing on New Year's Eve is going to a wedding. Ugh.

And I have some serious drawing to do you guys. It's not like I'm stuck for ideas or anything, I'm just lazy. And I forgot to bring my SKETCHBOOK WITH ME ARGH.

Oh well. brb video games or something

gpx+ party will go here when i can be bothered

EDIT: asdfsafsdaf
Dad told me I have to give a reading at the wedding.
Even though I TOLD him pretty clearly that I DIDN'T WANT TO.

Acey Enn!

What are your fondest memories of 2009? What were the low points? All told, what were the most significant events of 2009? Do you wish you could do it all over again?

View 1185 Answers

HIGH POINTS
-Vancouver. Just...Vancouver. In general.
-Switching schools.
-Getting significantly better at drawing.
-Turning 16.
-Getting that editing job.
-Christmas.
-Sean and Mashi getting together. I couldn't possibly be happier for you guys.

LOW POINTS
-All the crap I've had to endure from Nick and his "friends".
-My 16th birthday party. 3 people came. Most depressing sweet 16 bash ever.
-My grandpa's death.
-The breakdown of some of my friends' friendships with each other.
-Sean and Kate breaking up. I know it wasn't meant to be and the relationship wasn't going to work out, but it was still sad.
-My various emotional breakdowns.

Overall, with the exception of some events, I don't think I'd do it over again.
